Originally a post office with an ugly façade the building sat vacant for 15 years before being reimaged and converted to residential living and office space in 1999. Reoccupied in its current form from mid 2000 the apartments are mostly one-bedroom studio style. There are also six 2-bedroom units and four that are larger with 2 bedrooms plus study. The stylish interiors were the work of Custance Architects who won a design award for their utilitarian simplicity.
About half of the apartments are owner-occupied and the others are tenanted. All units are separately titled and the apartments that are rented out are managed by the individual owners. The 5th floor is the offices of the NZ Post Primary Teachers’ Association.
